Innovation Entrepreneur of the Year

This month 6 years ago, we won the ACE National Innovation Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 Award in Cebu City. 

We introduced online teaching and learning in 2008 (13 years ago) to small community who are up for a change and when internet in the Philippines was notoriously slow, unstable and expensive. Online learning has shown significant growth over the last decade, as the internet and education combine to provide people with the opportunity to gain new skills, much more since the COVID-19 outbreak. Online learning has become more centric in people’s lives. The pandemic has forced schools, universities, and companies to remote working and this booms the usage of online teaching and learning. 

Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable. -William Pollard

The Fall That Became a New Beginning: A Tree's Story of Resilience

While visiting the Marikina Shoe Museum, we stumbled upon something that stopped and amazed us – a massive old tree that had clearly fallen during a strong storm. But instead of decay and death, what we saw was a powerful testament to life's ability to adapt and thrive against all odds.   The tree’s thick trunk lies horizontally across the ground, its original roots still partially anchored in the soil where it once stood tall. Based on its size and the rough texture of its bark, it must have been growing there for decades, witnessing countless seasons pass in Marikina City. Preparing our Children for their First Temple Experience

It's a special milestone for our family that our youngest daughter, Czerinah Ellah is turning 12 this year and becomes eligible to participate in temple ordinances with her limited-use temple recommend and participate in certain sacred ordinances within the temple. Having her able to participate alongside the rest of our family is a joyous occasion. We are thrilled for this opportunity to support one another in these sacred experiences. We are glad that she will no longer need to wait for us to finish our temple sessions and can now make important covenants and receive blessings that can strengthen her faith and deepen her relationship with our Heavenly Father.    As Czerinah Ellah prepares for this significant step, we believe it's important to help her understand the sacredness and significance of the temple ordinances. Nurturing Trust in Heavenly Father Amidst Uncertainty

Breakfast after our early morning Seminary Class  After two failed attempts to obtain the plates of brass from Laban, Nephi crept into Jerusalem by night with faith in the Lord. However, he had little idea of how to accomplish his task (1 Nephi 4). We can definitely relate to Nephi's experience of feeling strongly about something but being unsure of how to accomplish it. Personally, there have been many instances in my life where I've felt a strong desire or prompting to pursue a particular goal or take a certain path, but I've been uncertain about the steps to take or the outcome.   In such situations, it's important to remember that we are not alone. Just as Nephi had faith in the Lord, we too can trust in Heavenly Father's guidance and His willingness to help us. Our first day at the temple started bright and early at 6 in the morning. It was a day filled with anticipation, excitement, and a deep sense of purpose as we commenced on this sacred journey of temple service at the Urdaneta Philippines Temple.  Here are some insights on how to prepare for temple work, drawing from our experience on this momentous first day.   Spiritual Preparation   Spiritual readiness is a fundamental aspect of preparing for temple work. Families are essential in Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness. We are part of a heavenly family and an earthly one. President Gordon B. Hinckley taught:  “God is the designer of the family. He intended that the greatest of happiness, the most satisfying aspects of life, the deepest joys should come in our associations together and our concerns one for another as fathers and mothers and children” Temple and family history work unites families. Husbands and wives, parents and children can be sealed through sacred temple ordinances. The goal of this process is that “the whole chain of God’s family shall be welded together into one chain, and they shall all become the family of God and His Christ” (Joseph F. It is a privilege to speak as Senior Service Missionaries for the Welfare and Self-Reliance Services and talk about a very important topic both temporally and spiritually.  At 15 years old, 25 years ago, Elder Padilla and I met in a Seminary Stake Class. We actively attended youth conferences and other church activities, he went on a mission at 19, and we were married in the temple.
