General Conference and Children


As parents, we can help our children, whatever their age, learn from the general conference. This is a great opportunity to teach them about recognizing the Spirit and about responding to things they learned and felt and have their own spiritual experiences.

Even after the live or rebroadcast, we can do much to enhance our children's experience with the doctrine and principles taught at general conference by talking about the impressions we all wrote during the sessions and what we all learned. It's not always easy especially when our children were younger but we praise them for their reverence and their attentiveness. 

These photos were taken on 9th April 2017 at Baguio Stake Center (Legarda Chapel). One of our family traditions in between sessions was to find a shady spot around the church ground, spread out our picnic mat and enjoy together the packed meals and treats. 

Recently, we watch conferences live at home or aired in our local tv station but the #conferencetraditions and memories we had will be forever treasured ❣️

Having recently moved to a new neighborhood and community closer to the Urdaneta Temple, we started the week on a positive note with a morning devotional. As a family, we studied Elder Gary E. Preparing our Children for their First Temple Experience

It's a special milestone for our family that our youngest daughter, Czerinah Ellah is turning 12 this year and becomes eligible to participate in temple ordinances with her limited-use temple recommend and participate in certain sacred ordinances within the temple. Having her able to participate alongside the rest of our family is a joyous occasion. We are thrilled for this opportunity to support one another in these sacred experiences. In our family devotional and scripture study from The Book of Mormon this Monday morning, we talked about the family of Lehi, a real family who lived way back 600 BC who also went through the ups and downs of life and there's a lot about their experiences that we can relate to today. This family lived in a world full of wickedness. But the Lord promised them that if they would follow Him, He would lead them to safety. It wasn't easy for them. A Higher Joy

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk "A Higher Joy" resonated deeply with me during our recent Relief Society lesson at Riverbend Ward, Bow River Stake. The talk's message about actively seeking joy, even amidst challenges, was already powerful. But our teacher, Pam Merrell, took the lesson to a whole new level with a simple but profound activity.   She asked us to write down the name of the first person who came to mind. Then, she asked us to write down the words we wanted to tell that person, reminding us to listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost as we wrote. As I sat there, the thought of reaching out to someone, expressing my feelings, filled me with excitement. As I began to write, a sense of peace settled over me.
